You have to be willing to give yourself in every respect and even if that’s just a feeling that you’re giving up or an actual experience, it’s better when it’s done wholeheartedly. After 4 years of practising and preparing, during his sophomore year of university, Ozor released his first single: “bruised.” The lyrics of bruised honor BOISTORY’s father, reflecting on the “big shoes” or high standard of righteousness that his father left him to “fill.” BOISTORY also reflects on his struggle to love fully and authentically. Ozor explains in an early Press Kit that his goal in songwriting is to “get into the things I do, my behaviors and thought processes, regardless of whether they're good or helpful or healthy.”

Ozor pulled up to my room that night, walked all the way from DLH. I remember letting him in. The lights in my room were dim and purple (led strips)... he made a brief comment about the bob marley and joker poster on my wall... he was like "mad vibes mad vibes." We were just vibing.... I played GBANA to hear his opinion on the song. After the second play he said "this is hard bro, can I hop on it"... He started recording a bit in my room there... but in true Ozor fashion he wasn't content and wanted to work on it more. I sent him the file to finish it and the rest is history. Also the initial version of BEBE had no drums… he initially didn't want to add drums. He wasn’t sure what beat pattern to use…we brainstormed for a bit and he ended up adding drums.” We also had an initial cover for GBANA it was supposed to be a single but it ended up on the EP Road Trippin’.
